National Harbor Room Update

National Harbor Room Update

As I have continued to work with the hotel on the logistics of the 2012 ISITDBT conference,  the hotel’s seating limits have been identified for the theater seating style. Although we have substantial general space remaining for the larger conference sessions in the morning, the clinical seminar in the afternoon, and for Dr. Linehan’s Address, the morning workshop which will be provided by Charlie Swenson and Kelly Koerner (in room National Harbor 4) is now full. New registrants, please register for the Randy Wolbert and Cedar Koons workshop for the morning workshop choice (in National Harbor 5). I am sure you will enjoy it. Thank you very much.

More Greetings from ISITDBT 2012

More Greetings from ISITDBT 2012

We are one month away from ISITDBT 2012 in National Harbor, MD on November 15th.  Please continue to check back to this site for information about the conference and the hotel facilities as the days to the conference get closer. And check the poster presentation list (below) for additions as well.

ISITDBT registration has been strong this year with 200 registrants thus far and still one month to go. Many thanks for those who replied to my DEAR MAN. Making the hotel requests was much easier for me since I knew the basic numbers this far in advance of the date. Once again, my thanks.

Please note that this early registration has left us with a curiosity that we “early birds” can ponder. Most registrants have selected the Koerner / Swenson morning workshop.  The “acceptance” side of me notes that a more intimate Randy Wolbert / Cedar Koons workshop could be quite nice, if we leave things just exactly as they are.  The change side of our dialectic is that I am excited about their workshop and want people to be afforded the opportunity of sharing their wisdom.  As a middle path, I decided to ask Randy and Cedar for additional information regarding their workshop plan and I share it with your here, while absolutely honoring your choices as you wish to make them.

This new information may be of value to any new registrants (who are still quite welcome to continue to resister for the conference) and may also be of value to anyone who may wish to switch to a smaller-sized workshop.  If you are the latter, please send me an e-mail at isit@isitdbt.net and I will make the switch via Eventbrite.

Here are the words of Randy Wolbert and Cedar Koons telling a bit more about what they will be doing in their ISITDBT workshop, Tending Your Mindfulness Garden:

Whether you already have a mindfulness practice or are someone who has been trying to get started, this workshop can help!  Randy Wolbert and Cedar Koons, who have been assisting Marsha Linehan, Roshi, at mindfulness retreats for many years, will address how to start and nurture a daily practice, how to find and work with a teacher and what to do when obstacles arise.  The workshop will also include time to sit together with your fellow DBT practitioners.  Don’t let the frost settle on your garden for another season.  Come be inspired to dig in the rich dirt of your soul!

Thanks so much everyone. Looking forward to November!

Regards,
Adam

A DEAR MAN from Adam

A DEAR MAN from Adam

D – ISITDBT is 37 days away! Planning for this year’s ISITDBT has been going on for the past eight months and is heating up now. I need to give the hotel the number of registrants so that they can arrange for the morning continental breakfast, the afternoon coffee, and the day’s seating. The hotel needs this information by the end of this week, and I need a day or so to prepare it for them.

E – I am very anxious about getting these details handled accurately. It will make me very happy if people are well fed and satisfied with the logistics of ISITDBT.  And it will truthfully make me quite upset if people are dissatisfied.

A – If you know that you will be attending ISITDBT, please register by October 10th. That means you have two days to register within my request. (Registration will continue, but it will get increasingly complicated with the hotel.)

R – If you register by Wednesday, October 10th, it will greatly increase the chances that I will provide accurate numbers and that there will be the correct amounts of breakfast items and coffee for you during the ISITDBT day. And remember, you will receive the discounted rates through Wednesday of this week. Rates go up on Thursday!  So you will save money by registering now!

How did I do? Do I need to do any broken record? Looking forward to seeing everyone in November.

Happy October,
Adam

2012 Poster Presentations

2012 Poster Presentations

Please note the update to include final poster presentations (from Dr. Nappi and colleagues at the UC, San Diego and from Lisa Benson at UCLA) inadvertently left off the initial list of accepted posters. Apologies to the presenters and thanks for their patience. (Clearly I have unresolved issues with the University of California.)

I have served on the Program Committee for ISITDBT for the past five years. This year’s posters are the most interesting batch of posters that I have reviewed yet for ISITDBT. But just in case you think that I may be a bit biased this year, here are the poster titles for the posters that have been accepted for the Poster Session at ISITDBT 2012 in National Harbor, MD on November 15, 2012. Check out what people have been working on in the DBT community!

If you see something that you want to learn more about, please take advantage of reduced early-bird registration fees that remain in place until Oct 10th and come to ISITDBT to talk to the poster presenters!

Best Regards,
Adam
